Free Website Hosting What is Hosting? When you build your website, you need a 'host'. This 'host' will store your website for you and when your visitors click onto your URL (website address) your website will then appear. True, this is simplified but makes it more understandable. There are many different kinds of Hosting Companies. Some charge a monthly/yearly fee and some are free. Most free hosts will have some sort of advertising on your webpages. Bravenet, among others, is pretty reasonable about the size of the ad. I like Bravenet and the ad placed at the top of the page does not take away from my content. Most free hosting companies do allow you the option of upgrading to a paid service where you have no ads on any page(s) and you get more MB...web space. For those just starting, use the free space provided and as you get more experienced and comfortable, then you can either upgrade or go elsewhere.
